• How does this course lower my auto insurance rates?
• A benefit many drivers are not aware of is that taking a defensive driving course can save you money on your auto insurance premiums. Insurance companies may offer up to a 10% discount on drivers' auto insurance premiums for 3 years just for taking Roy's Defensive Driving Course in accordance with Texas State law.
• After completing the course, how do I obtain my insurance discount?
• After you complete the course a certificate will be mailed to you. You'll need to provide this certificate to your auto insurance company or they may accept your certificate number over the phone. Some providers process the discount immediately.
• How do I find out how much of a discount my insurance provider offers?
• Contact your insurance provider to determine the amount offered. Some providers offer up to a 10% discount. If your provider does not, Roy reccomends that you shop around.

Texas Defensive Driving Course

• How many times can you take the defensive driving course?
• Texas state law allows you to dismiss one traffic ticket every 12 months by taking an approved Texas driving safety course (defensive driving course).
• Can I take defensive driving to remove a ticket even after completing the course for insurance discount?
• Yes, you are allowed to take the course every 12 months to remove a traffic ticket from your driving record. Taking a defensive driving course for an insurance discount does not count against you.
• Do I have to notify the court before taking the driving safety course (defensive driving course) for ticket dismissal?
• Most municipal court judges and justices of the peace require you to contact the court before you take a State of Texas approved driving safety course for ticket dismissal. Be sure to obtain the court's permission first.
• Can I order my Official Texas Driving Record online?
• Yes, for your convenience, when you register for the course, you'll be able to order your Official Texas Driving Record. You'll just need to have your your Drivers License and the Last 4 Digits of your SSN.
  
  NOTE: Roy's provides provides you a Type 3A Driver Record (Certified List of All Accidents and Violations). IMPORTANT: This is the only type of record acceptable for Defensive Driving Course (DDC) and Ticket Dismissal.
